A little history to get us started. Andersen was founded way back in 1903 by a Danish immigrant named Hans Andersen in Wisconsin. Today they are the largest window manufacturer in the United States. Pella wasn't too far behind when Pete and Lucille Kuyper invented a rolling screen in 1925 in the Dutch community of Pella, Iowa and is number 2 in manufactured units. What do you need to consider for window and door replacements?
First is window or door types such as casement, double hung etc. Second is the type of glass to optimize your performance needs (often determined by where you live in the U.S.). Both companies offer an optional microfine screen that gives you a clearer view as well as keeping out small insects. Pella offers that original roll screen (vastly improved Since 1925) and between the glass blinds or shades. While these options add to the cost of their Designer Series window, if you're planning on purchasing after market blinds, shades, curtains or window shutters anyway, this is indeed a wise and easy to care for option to consider.
